Pink Belt is an inspiring documentary about the life of Aparna Rajawat, India’s sixteen-time women’s national champion of martial arts. The film begins with one of India’s darkest tragedies when a young woman was brutally gang raped and tortured on a bus in New Delhi and later died from her internal injuries. Aparna had met the young woman and decided to turn her outrage and grief into a women’s empowerment movement called Pink Belt Mission. Aparna has challenged herself and Pink Belt Mission to make it into the Guinness Book of World Records for training over 25,000 women in self-defense on a single day in a football stadium. Director John McCrite and his team will journey to Agra, India to film the historic and uplifting event. Can Aparna and her team of volunteers shatter the world’s record and change lives along the way?
